Hmm...On a scale of 1-10 I’d say this is a…

Are you sitting down? No really. Are you sitting down? (I know, I know, chances are high that you are if you are at your computer.) Okay, here goes. Susanne and I are incredibly happy to share that if all goes well, we will welcome a new little brother or sister for Danny sometime this spring.

Can you believe it! We didn’t really plan to be coy or secretive about our efforts to have our second child, but then again, we didn’t feel compelled to share what was going on with too many people. For gosh sakes, we hadn’t even told our parents that we were trying again. (They sure know now!)

We are both so delighted. Having this child is not an attempt to make our family “complete”—I wouldn’t say that, although we have definitely always envisioned having two.

I guess the feeling that I’ve had since we first saw the line on the pregnancy test late last week is joy. Joy that this is really happening. Joy that conception occurred! Wow!

What I don’t feel at all is smugness. Like, “hah hah” we got pregnant. Not at all. I’d say just about the opposite of that. I want for everyone who yearns to hold a child in their arms to hold that child. And love them forever.

So…thank you God for this precious, precious gift. Please keep Susanne and the baby safe and healthy, and please bring to everyone who is waiting happy news this time around okay? Thank you, thank you, thank you! -Monica

Thanks Jenni and Mikki. Of course you two already knew cuz we told you but Nutella...I was just over on your site trying to figure out a way to drop this into conversation cuz I wanted to tell you. You're right, we haven't met in person but I feel like we know you guys!

You know, we are still in shock that it worked this first time back at it since Danny was concieved...we very much anticipated several tries. I also want you to know how much we hope that you are pregnant this time around.

And checking out the progesterone like you talked about on your site is a very good idea. Do you have our e-mail address? -Monica

Congratulations! That is fantastic news. There is something about that line on those test strips...it must be one of the world's most significant little lines.

WOW - congrats!! That's very exciting! Okay, do I have to keep up with you and Jenni now? Ummm, I wasn't thinking that would happen for AT LEAST another year, as I'd like to be in country with the midwives again. You'll have to let me know if anyone else from our group is also going for a 2nd!

Thanks for all your comments everyone. Diana, I'm not sure if "keeping up with Jenni and Susanne" is the best reason to get pregnant again now.Probably best to check in with your dear hubby on that one ;-)

Gosh, we haven't heard if anyone else from our Birthworks class is expecting again. If I do we'll let you know. I guess you don't need another birthing class with a second kid whkch is kind of a shame--it was so great meeting all of you that way. Have a great day and hugs to your men down there in South America! -Monica

Pep!! I am SO THRILLED for you and Su and Danny! Four is great. If you can do one with joy, two fits right in (this is my philosophy but Matt does not agree. He thinks that all hell breaks loose with two). Either way, I am thrilled!!!
